About The Crafty Ant

I am usually found foraging in nature, with my dog at my side and a sketch-book close at hand. I fill my home with crafty ‘clutter’ and I’m overly enthusiastic about my children’s ‘creative’ homework projects! I throw excellent dog birthday parties, and am an ardent animal lover, who rescues worms after the rain. One day I’ll live in rural bliss, but for now, home is South East London, with escapes to my ‘paradise’ -  a sleepy corner of the Isle of Wight.

I’ve always been creative, from my early days at a glossy interiors magazine, to making hand-made cards at a leading greetings cards publisher, where I got fired for singing Prince songs too loudly!  For the majority of my career, I‘ve worked as an Interior Designer, with projects raging from super yachts, to a Scottish castle beside Loch Ness and a house overlooking the Egyptian pyramids.

During Lockdown, nature became my children’s classroom and I recognised the connection of creativity and imagination to learning.  Now, more than ever, children need time away from the traditional school setting to decompress through the medium of Art.
